apologies are in order
Nicolay is an amazing producer. Really. When the Foreign Exchange album dropped in 04, I was floored. That was one of the best albums released that year. Now, in 06 he’s dropped the Here album. I gave it a listen and for some reason I wasn’t feelin it. Tracks have recently seeped into my playlists and I’ve finally given them a propper listen. I stand corrected, there’s some damn good cuts on this album. I don’t think I made any “he fell off!” statements but I may have. So, I apologize. Let’s get to some music.
“Light It Up” first caught my ear as a B-Side on the Little Brother 12″. This was a crazy hot Al Green chop (instrumental version below). After that, I was checkin for Nicolay. Then Foreign Exchange dropped - and “Nic’s Groove” was the jam for me off that album - classic! The rest of the cuts below are off the new album. If you haven’t heard it yet, you need to pick it up. Also, check his discography - cause he’s done some amazing cuts.
Nicolay - Light It Up (inst)
Foreign Exchange - Nic’s Groove
Nicolay - Give Her Everything
Nicolay - My Story (Feat. Kay & Sy Smith)
Nicolay - What It Used To Be (Feat. Wiz Khalifa)
