MKE for your earholes

Kevin MegaGot an email today, and it turns out Kevin Mega is all up in your iTunes. Mega is from my hometown, Milwaukee - so I need to rep for my town and my crew. All bias aside, Mega is nice on the mic. I’ve heard some stories about peeps that Mega has ripped with freestyles (not naming names), and I can say from first hand experience that he’s got skills. Chances are most of you ain’t heard Mega before, so take a sec and lend your earholes. Oh, did I not mention I got some remixes in the work?

Travelling Music

Lookin out my front door
I get homesick easily. I’m not sure why that is. I’m currently back in the homeland (Milwaukee, WI) catching up with many dear friends, drinking too much and not getting much sleep. Here’s some things I’ve been listening to when I can sneak away to the serenity of my laptop and headphones.

9th Creation “Rule Of Mind”
I love this album. “Bubble Gum” normally gets the shine, but recently I’ve been feeling this track. It’s just crazy smooth.

Chocolate Milk “Time Machine”
Again, another album where other tracks get the shine, but this is my jam.

Main Ingredient “California My Way”
It’s corny considering, but it had to be done.

I suppose all these tracks make me nostalgic of home for some reason. I’m not reading too much into it, but I have noticed my listening habits have changed a bit since I’ve been traveling. Kinda like comfort food for the ears. Cali, I’m coming.

Funk ain’t no thang

Steve Arrington's Hall Of FameThis was one of the first interesting record finds I came across after moving to San Diego. Steve Arrington, of Slave is breaking out and doing his own thing here, and it’s funky for 83 and solid nearly all the way through. But one look at the cover of this album, and you KNOW it’s gonna be good. I’ll be the first to admit that buying records based soley on the covers is a bad habit (I’ve been burned many time), but in this case the ridiculous funky cover pays off. This record has found it’s way back into my rotation as of late and has been getting played. Specifically Weak At The Knees, which may be recognizable to you as the main sample from Jermaine Dupri’s Money Ain’t a Thing - but I really don’t think he did it justice. This cut is stoopid nice.

Props to Old Man Malcolm and JDL for tipping me off on this record.
