OK, i didn’t really do a Diddy post about that new album. partially because i feel bad for liking some of it, and partially because some of it is just wrong. this Prince jackin shit has got to stop. here’s the deal – at first i thought he straight jacked the drums for Raspberry Beret for Last Night. then i hear the Remix of Last Night and damn… Diddy done jacked Erotic City. i think to myself, this can’t be that cut and dry… cause Prince be way too sue happy for this to fly. so i give them a closer listen… and i’ll be damned but it sounds more like he stole Prince’s drum sounds (or got a Linn), and actually had the audacity to play his drum patterns exactly like the Prince cuts. now i could be wrong, but i don’t think so. is this the new way to get around the sample laws!?
