Lupe, what happened?! I heard your leaked version of this album a few months back and really dug it! Then it finally comes out and it’s not as good! These things happen… Rumor has it Lupe got a bit ticked off when his much hyped album got leaked, raised some hell and cold changed it up. Who knows for sure, all I’m sayin is that I was really feelin the leaked version – as is.

I’m not sayin this is a bad album, cause it’s not. Kick Push was my summer anthem and still rides in my crates. It was just better before all the big name producer & cameo tracks were added (Jill Scott, Jay-Z, Neptunes). Maybe it’s just me, and maybe the version I heard was never the final product anyway – but these cuts (below) are slammin and should have been included! Come on, that T Play’s It Cool sample is played out, but stoopid nice! I admit, I do have a soft spot for faster cuts because not many recent MCs can make it work.

Now, I’m celebrating Lupe tracks NOT on the Food & Liquor retail release. Go pick up the album y’all, it really is a breath of fresh air for hip hop.
